Steven Light-Orr's training and early work as a lighting and production designer for theater led naturally to working in the art department for film, television and commercials, as well as to industrial design and home furnishings.
Recently, Steven was brought in as a set designer on Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story: 1984 after wrapping Jim Cameron’s Avatar sequels as an art director. He art directed and set designed Under the Silver Lake, directed by David Robert Mitchell, and assistant art directed Netflix's production of A Futile and Stupid Gesture, directed by David Wain. Other film highlights include The Lego Movie, State of Play, Pirates of the Caribbean II and III, Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events and Hulk. Steven has a long career in television as well, including Sherman's Showcase, Grandfathered, Pushing Daisies, Parks and Recreation, and Weeds.
Some of Steven's accolades include being part of the art department that won the Academy Award for Best Production Design for La La Land, which also won the Art Director's Guild Award. He has been part of the teams that were nominated for Art Directors Guild Awards for Sharp Objects and Feud: Bette and Joan.
Steven feels incredibly lucky to have had a wonderful, creative and interesting career, and can't wait to see what the future holds.
