Steven Light-Orr's training and early work as a lighting and production designer for theater led naturally to working in the art department for film, television and commercials, as well as to industrial design and home furnishings.

Steven is currently set designing Criminal Minds, Season 16, after working on the second season of Kumail Nanjiani's Little America. He also set designed the up-coming The Mothership starring Halle Berry, as well as Boston Strangler for Warner Brothers, starring Keira Knightley. Last year, he art directed Head of the Class for HBO Max, and set designed Easy Mark for Apple TV. Previously, he set designed reshoots for Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead as well as the Pilot for Rita. Steven has also been brought in as a set designer on Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story: 1984 after wrapping Jim Cameron’s Avatar sequels as an art director. He art directed and set designed Under the Silver Lake, directed by David Robert Mitchell, and assistant art directed Netflix's production of A Futile and Stupid Gesture, directed by David Wain. Film career highlights include The Lego Movie, State of Play, Pirates of the Caribbean II and III, Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events and Ang Lee's Hulk. Some of Steven's television credits include Sherman's Showcase, Grandfathered, Pushing Daisies, Parks and Recreation, and Weeds.

Steven's accolades include being part of the art department that won the Academy Award for Best Production Design for La La Land, which also won the Art Director's Guild Award. He has also been part of the teams that were nominated for Art Directors Guild Awards for Avatar: The Way of Water, The Prom, Sharp Objects and Feud: Bette and Joan.
